In early July, energy stakeholders from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) including government officials, regulators and civil society organisations (CSOs), met with Kenyan Ministry of Energy officials, county government and CSOs to discuss the enabling environment for energy plannin and the experience of county energy planning in Kenya.
The exchange consisted of a five-day workshop, ‘Accelerating Development Through Inclusive Energy Planning’ held in Naivasha, Kenya from 1-5 July 2024.
The exchange is part of a collaboration between the STEER Centre, IIED, ACCESS Coalition and 11th Hour Project and its partners in DRC to build understanding of energy as an enabler of wider sustainable development goals (SDGs), and of inclusive planning approaches such as EDM as a tool to achieve this.
